This webpage contains information about the Environmental office and our Environmental Management Policies and Strategies.

A review of the Estates Department undertaken in 2002 identified a need for the University to demonstrate its commitment to the environment both on a local and national basis. As a result, the Estates Department Environmental Office was formed in August 2003 to devise and implement a long-term Environmental Management Strategy (EMS) for the University.

The Environmental Management Strategy was developed as part of the University’s continued commitment to improving its obligations in respect of all environmental matters. The document reflects the objectives of the International Standard, ISO 14001:1996 and has been divided into a number of areas; the main areas are communication, waste, energy, water management and transport. The Estates Environmental Office is responsible for developing policies and procedures which comply with the University’s Environmental Policy and Strategy, and current environmental legislation.
